In 2000, Bernard received with the highest distinction awarded by the Society, to recognize his remarkable personal achievements and his contribution to Canadian geographical knowledge.
Bernard Voyer has been also appointed Governor of The Royal Canadian Geographical Society (2011) and has chaired the RCGS Expedition committee. Expeditions have been better appreciate, understand and better have raised the profile of geography. To expand the knowledge of the geography of Canada by exploring and scientific expeditions, the RCGS has funded several expeditions in the land.
